About the Role

Our world-leading Time & Frequency department seek a Configuration Manager with recent experience in configuration of hardware, software and documentation.

We are now working in a hybrid way, with a mix of remote and office working. You will be joining our team at an exciting time - we maintain the UK’s National Time Scale, UTC (NPL), and are currently developing a new resilient Time Scale facility that will underpin our Critical National Infrastructure. This will address the risks associated with our dependency on global navigation satellite systems (such as GPS) that are vulnerable to both natural and intentional interference.

As Configuration Manager, you’ll establish, manage, and govern the operational delivery of Configuration Management for the delivery of the UK’s National Timescale. Providing day-to-day support to multiple sites, your role will include:

  •       Establishing and managing ongoing compliance to Asset and Configuration Management processes
  •       Pre-Production validation
  •       Advise on hardware and software refresh and improvement activities
  •       Organise, manage and chair the Configuration Control Board (CCB)
  •       Support and advise the Project and Engineering teams
  •       Phase reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.) and configuration audits (FCA and PCA)

Reporting to an Operational Delivery Leader, you will follow Configuration Management processes, procedures and standards.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • 5+ Years in the same or equivalent role
  • Relevant academic and professional qualifications, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience using CM tools (e.g. 3DS PLM, Oracle, etc)
  • Configuration in virtual environments
  • Document structure and baseline reports
  • Knowledge of the full engineering project life cycle
