Whether you’re talking about length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, amount or the brightness of light, the National Physical Laboratory sets the standards by which these things are all measured. As an organisation, we appreciate that change is essential to sustainable growth. As a Business Analyst, you’ll provide the data analysis and evaluation that helps us decide what ideas and innovations will bring us the greatest return, so that we’re always changing for the better. At NPL, we touch ordinary lives in extraordinary ways and you could too.
We’re constantly looking at ways to improve. You’ll analyse and audit data to highlight emerging trends and needs, then work with relevant stakeholders to decide which will add the greatest value and how we might go about it, formalising requirements, benefits and processes. You’ll then champion whatever change programme has been proposed, gaining buy-in across the business and producing progress reports to keep everyone on track. Responsible for driving best-practice, you’ll need to make sure your knowledge is always up-to-date. You’ll also support the transformation and change team as and when they need it.
Purpose of the Role
Analytical research to support the further development of our Environment strategy and/or programmes. Typically, this will be focused on a specific topic, sector or industry areas to understand the challenges and identify measurements needs that can be addressed through NPL science. This may shape the overall strategy or support the development of programme proposals.
Early stakeholder engagement to develop NPL points-of-view and NPL positions. Typically, this involves literature search and external interactions/conferences in new-to-NPL areas to identify where there is future research or business development potential for NPL
We are now working in a hybrid way, with a mix of remote and office working. We strive to offer a great work life balance - if you are looking for full time, part time or flexible options, we will try to make this work where business possible. This will be dependent on the kind of role you do and part of the business you work in’’
